How to deal with bad debts?

Hi,

Every year I have customers that don't pay their bills. Is there any way of removing them from my unpaid invoices list without just deleting them? I deleted them in the past but my accountant tells me I shouldn't do that as I still need to record them as unpaid.

Any ideas?

Question about summing up invoices

I'd like to look at the total I billed this year, but WITHOUT taxes, to determine my total income. Is there a way to do this? It's very handy that I see a sum when I select multiple invoices, but it would be great if there were an option to see both sums.

Billable's future

So, are you planning on keeping up with Billable for those people that want the simpler functionality? I like Profit Train, but Billable is still a very appealing app. Its simplicity can't be matched. Since it is what got me turned on to your software, I wanted to make sure you know that there are people that would still purchase it. I know you're very busy with the PT release and wouldn't be doing much with Billable now anyhow, but it's just a thought.

Just my 252 pesos, but I'm sure there are others that would agree.

I usually send my clients a quote prior to begining most work. It would be nice if the labels could be changed to say quote and then once accepted it could turn into the invoice. My quotes are essentially invoices with Quote as a title instead of invoice. It would need to have extra fields such as Accepted by ____ on ____.

Any hope here?

Adding a Service to an Existing Invoice

I'm having trouble locating a solution to this small problem. I've created an invoice with multiple services, but now I need to add another service to the invoice. Is there a quick solution that I am missing? I was hoping to avoid deleting an invoice and and starting over, then editing the invoice number to keep order.

Bug: Post-Invoice Invoice Changes

(1) A service that's edited after being invoiced changes the invoice, even if the invoice has been stamped "PAID"
(2) Unable to add/delete services to invoices after creation, even if the invoice has never been sent to a client and needs updating/correction (e.g., a service for a different client is erroneously listed on another client's invoice)

Client Overpaid - Credit Should Carry Over

I billed a client 130.00 but accidentally they paid 136.50 so they have a credit of 6.50. Why does this not carry over as a credit to the next invoice I create for this client. I believe this to be a very important feature. Please consider this for the next version.

Hi,
Anyone out there using billable on more than one computer. Say the husband has it on his laptop, enters his invoices during the day, we back it up to the home computer and I do the occasional recieve payment on the home computer.
If you have any ideas on an easy way to do this, it would be most appreciated.

Trouble restoring from backup on new OS install

My backed up data isn't migrating to Billable after updating my OS to Snow Leopard.
The plist came over OK - but the services, clients, etc won't

Before doing the update I copied 150+ records in the Library/App Support/Billable folder -- they all begin with Billable and end with .sqlite

I also grabbed the Backup folder, which seems to have the same data.

After the OS update, I downloaded a fresh version of Billable, inserted my serial number, copied the sqlite files to the Billable folder in Library/App Support/Billable

And that's where I'm hung up - nothing came across.

Any ideas ??

Billable is GREAT software - it has saved me many $$ in lost revenue.

Due date

Can you include a due date that is the same every time depending on invoice date, i.e. due date every 20th of the month following the invoice date, i.e. invoice date 12/12/2009, due date 01/20/2010?

Problem Adding New Clients

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this is really starting to drive me insane! Especially when I have a customer waiting in front of me.

Basically what is happening is when I'm adding new clients, after pressing the +, it's a good 45secs before I can enter any name or any details in any fields. After I have entered the name and tab down to the next fields it freezes and thinks again, for another 45secs. After a good minute and a half can I finally enter more details then just a name. The computer is whirring of its head at the same time.

Installed onto Macbook Pro with the backup of all my clients and info, go to add a new client there and same thing, computer starts whirring, fans going crazy takes for EVER just to enter in the basic details for a client, that no address just name, phone and email and it takes forever.

Any ideas anyone, does billable have a limit to the amount of clients it can process, I have around a 1000 or more, seems like the only reason for it. Will profit train fix or will I have same problems? I need to do something about this sooner or later as its causing havoc every time I have a customer and a little bit of pressure.

Agony over Serial Numbers

It's very understandable to be upset over a crashing issue, or other problems which can cause lost time, etc. But I couldn't help but notice the turmoil over lost serial numbers and the inability to have them resent.

I'm in business. Hence, my need for billing software. And, when I make a purchase, I keep a record. I bought Billable as a download, and in the purchase receipt that was emailed to me was my serial number, which I copied and pasted into a separate file with all my other serial numbers and software keys. I also keep all my email. So my serial numbers are in at least two locations, and easily found if there is a need.

So, to those who are angry that they can't get their serial numbers sent to them, grow up and try employing some personal responsibility. Mommy isn't going to be there to wipe your butt forever.

Any indication as to release of ProfitTrain?

I need to buy a system to manage my self-employed consultancy. Billable is great but I have been holding off purchasing as I want a complete solution and profittrain look like it would do the job.

I would be grateful for an indication as to any release schedule: Even the release of a beta. I monitor these forums and the website regularly but there seems to be no movement.

I realise that Mike does this part-time but any indication would help.

Failing this I will have to look around for another solution which would be a pity. I like Moneywell and moneyguru but I the idea of integrated invoice creation and monitoring that profitrain will offer is just the job.

Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

Had to do a reinstal on my Mac Book Pro and unfortunately found out several things:

1. You will need your serial number as Billable goes back to a trail version
2. Good Luck getting Billable to send you a copy of your serial number. I have been trying since Saturday to have an email sent with my serial number. I've waited until the end of business today to post what crappy support they have. Don't believe me look up Arturo's posts needing help and support never responding to his issues...pretty crappy.
3. Even though I backed up everything with Time Machine as well as saved the Billable back up folder, i still can't import nor open the sqlite folder which is the back up folder with all invoice/client info. I'm thinking this can't be opened due to the serial number however i'll never know because Billable won't ever email me and conveniently doesn't take calls.
4. I should have purchased Quick Books, might have been more but i wouldn't be sitting here three days later waiting for something that should be automatic emailed response.

Website down. Cannot purchase?
