Topic: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

Had to do a reinstal on my Mac Book Pro and unfortunately found out several things:

1. You will need your serial number as Billable goes back to a trail version
2. Good Luck getting Billable to send you a copy of your serial number. I have been trying since Saturday to have an email sent with my serial number. I've waited until the end of business today to post what crappy support they have. Don't believe me look up Arturo's posts needing help and support never responding to his issues...pretty crappy.
3. Even though I backed up everything with Time Machine as well as saved the Billable back up folder, i still can't import nor open the sqlite folder which is the back up folder with all invoice/client info. I'm thinking this can't be opened due to the serial number however i'll never know because Billable won't ever email me and conveniently doesn't take calls.
4. I should have purchased Quick Books, might have been more but i wouldn't be sitting here three days later waiting for something that should be automatic emailed response.

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

I'm not really sure what's happened to Zorn. He seems to have disappeared of the face of the planet!

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

Can anyone tell me then what program can i use to open up my invoices that were backed up??? I just need the info so that i can switch to another program...help please.

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

Well I never here from Zorn or Mike or anyone else so i was forced to purchase another serial number which unlocked the program and recognized my most recent backup folder. So the good news is the backups work, bad news is there is absolutely no customer support at all. I'm no computer wiz however i would imagine that most companies that sell downloaded software, no matter what their size, would have an automatic response to lost serial numbers. If not then at least a two day turn around in responding to someone via email. What was pretty alarming is seeing the physical address to Billable...an apartment. Great somebody wrote this program made their money and they gone!!! Until this is resolved with Clickable Bliss i would tell anyone...DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

As written in the help book you can backup and move your data by copying over

~/Library/Application Support/Billable/*
~/Library/Preferences/com.clickablebliss.Billable.plist

To your new computer. The serial is found in the plist. If it can't see it there, yes it goes back into a demo state.

I just testing the send me a serial system and it worked fine for me. Sometimes the mail will get caught up in some spam filter.

There is no importing, you simple place the files in your Home directory and Billable will use them instead of making a fresh database.

I've had a lot of personal things go on and the company has been on the back burner. I'm trying to pick up the pieces now. If anyone feels they are due a refund, let me know and I'll put it through.

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

@HEAT95 I've refunded the order you made on July 2, 2008. I can not refund the original as it is past 60 days. If you'd like a refund via PayPal or personal check let me know your info. Again, I'm sorry for all the trouble.

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

I am having trouble receiving my serial number via the lost serial form. I tried a handful of times and even the "contact us" form did not work with two of my email addresses both having the "CC myself" option clicked on.

I am stuck in trial mode on a nuked and paved machine until I can drag up my serial sad

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

I, too, had a hard drive crash and tried the online form for serial retrieval. I have sent myself and email with my serial 5 times (never received the email), used the contact form 3 times (never received the CC to myself or a reply) and emailed mike@ 3 times (same, zip). I am now out of trial, stuck in view only, high and dry and mad as hell.

Any help?

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

Wow, none of these people followed the clear and easy to read instructions on how to back up the critical software that runs their business finances. I have mine backed up in 3 different places.

You CAN'T get mad at Mike if you don't follow his instructions on how to back up your business files. You can only be mad as hell at yourself.

Re: Serial Number / Future Buyer Beware

I can understand some peoples frustration but I noticed that Mike provided a refund and an explanation and some support.

Hey - he is a one-man company with a good product. We all have personal or family problems to deal with. Give him a break and how rude at least not to thank him for the refund and explanation.

THANKS ROB ROYE...Your post was extremely helpful. Instead of you wasting my time and the other folks who were having similar issues might I suggest YOU READ my original post!!! I guess you missed it so let me restate what you clearly did not comprehend. I followed the instructions and backed up my files in two separate locations. The procedure listed did not work regardless of which back up copy I used. So next time you post something / somewhere do the world  a favor and be part of the solution or STFU!!!

Memphisto: Agreed I should have posted that everything was corrected and made right by Zorn however I do not care to hear that a business regardless if it consists of one man or 1000's of employees, is excused from not taking care of it's business and or customers. Especially when this software was not working properly and I had 1,000's of dollars worth of invoices unpaid. Future invoices would be an inconvenice but a very easy fix. Unpaid and worst unknown invoices that appear as x's and o's will not get me paid. As the customer I had done everything I was suppose to. I had backed up my work in two separate locations and neither worked. Add to that the time elapsed with no response from Billable in addtion to others posting a well noticed absence of customer service / support what else would you have done or said.

Zorn: Thanks for the refund on the second copy. I am sorry for not coming on here sooner and posting that you had resolved my issues. Hopefully there won't be a second time / issue and I'm not so insentive that I would request all of my money back. Thanks for your detailed response although it was kinda late especially when your software is so critical to my and other's small business. Sorry to hear you had some misfortune and I wish you the best.

For all the other posts: I hope your problems were resolved and I hope my post was able to help you in some way. I also would like to apologize for not finishing this post and updating everyone.
